Pre-Diabetes/Diabetes

Adult Prediabetes & Diabetes Nutrition Support

Did your doctor recently tell you that your blood sugar is elevated... and now you're wondering, "What do I eat?"

Or maybe you've been living with diabetes for years and feel overwhelmed by all the conflicting nutrition advice. One person tells you to avoid carbohydrates, another says to eat more protein, and before long, it feels like you're constantly second-guessing every meal.

If this sounds familiar, I want you to know—you don't have to figure this out alone.

Whether you've recently been diagnosed with prediabetes, have Type 2 diabetes, or have been managing diabetes for years, nutrition can play an incredible role in helping you feel better, improve blood sugar control, and reduce your risk of long-term complications. My goal isn't to put you on a restrictive diet—it's to help you understand your body and build habits that actually fit your life.

During my three years working in a specialized Diabetes Center, I had the privilege of helping hundreds of adults improve their blood sugars, better understand their diagnosis, lose weight safely, navigate medications, and feel more confident managing diabetes. One of the things I loved most was watching fear turn into confidence as people realized they could still enjoy food while improving their health.

One of the things my clients appreciate most is finally understanding why their blood sugars respond the way they do. During our sessions, I'll explain the science behind diabetes in a way that's practical and easy to understand—not with confusing medical terms, but in a way that helps everything finally make sense.

Together, we'll talk about:

  • How carbohydrates affect your blood sugar—and why you don't have to eliminate them.
  • Why pairing protein, fiber, and healthy fats helps improve blood sugar control.
  • How meal timing can influence energy and glucose levels.
  • How stress, sleep, movement, and medications all affect blood sugar.
  • How body composition and muscle mass play an important role in improving insulin sensitivity.
  • Simple changes that fit your lifestyle and still allow you to enjoy the foods you love.

To better understand your health, I also include body composition and metabolic analysis as part of your appointments. Looking beyond the scale allows us to evaluate:

  • Muscle mass and body fat percentage
  • Visceral fat and hydration
  • Resting metabolic rate (metabolism)
  • Progress beyond pounds lost

I'm also a strong believer in using laboratory data to guide nutrition care. If you've already had recent lab work completed, I'll help you understand your A1C, blood sugar trends, cholesterol, kidney function, and other lab values so you leave knowing exactly what those numbers mean—and what we can do to improve them.

When you understand why your body is responding the way it is, food becomes a lot less confusing—and change becomes much more achievable.

Whether your goal is preventing diabetes, lowering your A1C, improving your energy, reducing medications, supporting weight management, or simply feeling more confident around food, I'll meet you where you are and create a personalized plan that fits your life.

You don't have to eat perfectly to improve your health. Together, we'll build sustainable habits that help you feel stronger, healthier, and confident that you're taking control of your diabetes—one meal at a time.
