Adult High Blood Pressure
Adult High Blood Pressure Nutrition Support
Has your blood pressure slowly been creeping up... and you're wondering if there's anything you can do besides taking another medication?
Maybe your doctor recently told you your blood pressure is elevated, or perhaps you've been taking medication for years and are hoping to better support your heart through nutrition. You may feel perfectly healthy, making it difficult to understand why your numbers continue to rise.
If this sounds familiar, you're not alone.
High blood pressure often develops quietly over time, but that doesn't mean there's nothing you can do. Nutrition, movement, stress management, sleep, and other lifestyle habits can all play an important role in supporting healthy blood pressure and protecting your long-term heart health.
Many of my clients come to me hoping to improve their blood pressure naturally, reduce their cardiovascular risk, or support their current medications through better nutrition. While nutrition can't replace medication for everyone, it can make a meaningful difference in improving your health and may even reduce the need for additional medications for some individuals under the guidance of their physician.
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of caring for people across every stage of heart health. I spent five years working in a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU) caring for patients recovering from open-heart surgery while teaching post-operative heart health and nutrition classes. I later spent three years working in a specialized Diabetes Center, helping adults improve their blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugars, weight, and overall cardiovascular health. Today, I continue that work through personalized one-on-one nutrition counseling in my private practice.
One of the things my clients appreciate most is finally understanding why their blood pressure is elevated. During our sessions, we'll review your health history, medications, laboratory results, and lifestyle habits so you understand exactly what's contributing to your numbers—and where we can make the biggest impact.
Heart health is about more than food.
As both a Registered Dietitian and an ACE Certified Health Coach, I believe lasting improvements happen through realistic lifestyle changes—not perfection. Using evidence-based behavior change strategies, I'll help you build healthy habits that actually fit your life.
Together, we'll work on:
- Understanding the factors contributing to your blood pressure
- Building satisfying meals that naturally support heart health
- Learning how sodium, potassium, fiber, healthy fats, and hydration work together
- Supporting healthy weight management when appropriate
- Managing stress using evidence-based lifestyle coaching techniques
- Improving sleep and creating sustainable daily routines
- Reading food labels with confidence
- Understanding your lab work and overall cardiovascular risk
- Creating realistic habits that fit your lifestyle—not another restrictive diet
When appropriate, I'm happy to collaborate with your primary care provider, cardiologist, or other members of your healthcare team so we're all working toward the same goals.
When you understand why your body is responding the way it is, food becomes a lot less confusing—and change becomes much more achievable.
Real change doesn't happen because someone hands you a meal plan. It happens when you have the knowledge, support, and accountability to build habits that fit your real life. My goal is to help you feel confident in the choices you're making—not just during our appointments, but for years to come.
Whether your goal is preventing medication, supporting your current treatment plan, improving your heart health, or simply feeling your best, I'll meet you where you are and walk alongside you every step of the way.
Together, we'll create a realistic, heart-healthy lifestyle that protects your future while still allowing you to enjoy family dinners, vacations, celebrations, and everyday life. Because taking care of your heart shouldn't mean giving up the life you love.
