Fatty Liver Disease

Adult Fatty Liver Disease Nutrition Support

Were you told you have fatty liver disease... and now you're wondering what you're supposed to eat?

If you're like many of my clients, hearing the words "fatty liver" can be scary. You may have left your appointment wondering if your liver is permanently damaged, whether you caused it, or if you now have to eliminate every food you enjoy.

I want you to know—you are not alone, and there is hope.

Over my 16+ years as a Registered Dietitian, I've worked with many adults diagnosed with fatty liver disease. One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that people think they developed fatty liver because they ate too much fat.

In reality, fatty liver disease is often much more closely connected to insulin resistance, excess added sugars, refined carbohydrates, weight gain, and overall metabolic health than simply eating dietary fat. Understanding why fatty liver develops is one of the first steps toward improving it.

The encouraging news is that, for many people, fatty liver can improve with realistic nutrition and lifestyle changes.

One of the things my clients appreciate most is finally understanding what's happening inside their bodies. During our sessions, we'll review your health history, laboratory results, lifestyle habits, and nutrition so you understand where we can make the greatest impact.

Together, we'll work on:

  • Understanding what fatty liver disease is—and what it isn't
  • Reducing added sugars without feeling deprived
  • Building balanced meals that support liver health
  • Supporting healthy, sustainable weight management when appropriate
  • Improving insulin resistance and overall metabolic health
  • Understanding your liver enzymes and laboratory results
  • Creating practical habits that fit your everyday life

As both a Registered Dietitian and an ACE Certified Health Coach, I know lasting improvements don't happen through restrictive diets. Using evidence-based behavior change strategies, I'll help you build sustainable habits that support not only your liver, but your overall health for years to come.

When appropriate, I'm happy to collaborate with your primary care provider, gastroenterologist, hepatologist, or other healthcare professionals to ensure your nutrition plan complements your medical care.

When you understand why your body is responding the way it is, food becomes a lot less confusing—and change becomes much more achievable.

Whether your goal is improving your liver enzymes, reducing liver fat, increasing your energy, supporting healthy weight management, or simply feeling healthier, I'll meet you where you are and help you build a plan that's realistic, sustainable, and personalized to your life.

Your diagnosis doesn't define your future. Your liver has an incredible ability to heal when it's given the right support. Together, we'll create healthy habits that help your liver—and the rest of your body—thrive.
