Adult Nutrient Deficiencies

Adult Nutrient Deficiencies & Nutrition Support

Are you constantly tired, losing your hair, or wondering why you just don't feel like yourself anymore?

Maybe you've been told you're low in iron, vitamin D, vitamin B12, or another nutrient. Or maybe your hair is thinning, your energy has disappeared, your nails are brittle, or you're constantly feeling run down—but no one has been able to tell you why.

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone.

Nutrient deficiencies can affect so much more than just your lab work. They can impact your energy, concentration, mood, hair, skin, nails, immune system, healing, muscle strength, and overall quality of life.

The good news is that once we understand why the deficiency developed, we can create a personalized plan to help your body recover.

Finding the "why" is just as important as treating the deficiency.

During my five years working in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), nutrition was often the difference between healing and continued illness. I helped formulate tube feedings and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), ensuring patients received the precise balance of calories, protein, vitamins, and minerals needed to heal while carefully monitoring for nutrient deficiencies and adjusting nutrition to maximize absorption.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job was helping patients safely transition from tube feedings or IV nutrition back to eating regular foods while continuing to meet their nutritional needs.

That experience taught me something I still use every single day:

Every nutrition plan should be individualized.

One of my favorite parts of nutrition counseling is helping people uncover why they don't feel their best.

Many people don't realize there are dozens of vitamin, mineral, protein, and medical conditions that can contribute to symptoms such as:

  • Hair thinning or excessive hair loss
  • Brittle nails
  • Dry skin
  • Fatigue and low energy
  • Brain fog
  • Poor wound healing
  • Muscle weakness
  • Frequent illness

As a Registered Dietitian, I perform a nutrition-focused physical assessment, looking for subtle signs and symptoms that may point toward specific nutrient deficiencies. Combined with your medical history, medications, diet, and current symptoms, these findings help guide conversations with your healthcare provider about appropriate laboratory testing when additional answers are needed.

Nutrition should fit your life—not the other way around.

There isn't one meal plan or one supplement that works for everyone.

My goal is to create a nutrition plan based on your:

  • Taste preferences
  • Cooking skills and confidence
  • Schedule and lifestyle
  • Medical conditions
  • Laboratory results
  • Health goals

Whenever medically appropriate, I love helping clients improve nutrient intake through food first. Together, we'll identify foods you actually enjoy, maximize nutrient absorption, and build realistic meal plans that may help minimize the need for supplements, pills, or injections whenever possible. When supplements or medical treatments are necessary, I'll help you understand how to take them for the best absorption and how they fit into your overall nutrition plan.

When appropriate, I'm happy to collaborate with your primary care provider or specialist to help identify appropriate laboratory testing and ensure we're working together to uncover the root cause of your symptoms—not simply treating them.

When you understand why your body is responding the way it is, food becomes a lot less confusing—and change becomes much more achievable.

Whether you're recovering from bariatric surgery, dealing with digestive conditions, taking medications that affect nutrient absorption, experiencing unexplained fatigue, hair loss, or simply trying to feel like yourself again, I'll meet you where you are and help you build a realistic path forward.

"You deserve more than being told to 'take a vitamin.' You deserve to understand why your body became deficient in the first place—and have a personalized plan to restore your health."

Together, we'll find the answers, create a plan that fits your life, and help you feel stronger, healthier, and more like yourself again.
